Yes, India has lots to experience. Glad your perspective is seeing the small, sweet, ironic things in the bigger picture. Glad you're sharing too, can't wait to have "tea" with you Helene.

So true that your perspective changes how you view a place. Many people would not have been able to pull the little stories you saw out of your time there. They would have focused on the grime and the smells and everything else.

Damien: Thanks for the good word! I'm glad you found a measure of personal truth in my observations. I certainly haven't read much that corresponded to my own experience... Yep, I'm one of those guys who had an overwhelmingly positive reaction to India's madness. :)

It's been one week and it doesn't really change... It's still crazy, and it's still wonderful. We go to a tea stall at least once a day, and it's the most wonderful thing to sit there on the sidewalk, talk to people including the owner, and just enjoy Kolkata's hyperactivity. I'll blog about the stall owner soon... He's a fascinating, wonderful man.

Daniel, what a great post! It's an incredible challenge to write about your experiences traveling in India. It's such a assault on all your senses; the entire country unapologetically violates your personal space. Your approach to Kolkata is pretty cool. It got me thinking about some of those simple moments we had when we were there and I was glad we went -- even if I wouldn't go so far as so say I am in love with the place!
